The Wahoo App turns every session into something built around you. Not a tracker. Not a social feed. Training intelligence that learns how you ride, run, and recover, then connects each day’s effort to where you’re headed.
Start with everything. Decide later. Get 14 days of full Pro access. No commitment.
You’re not missing data.
You’re missing what it means.
Training intelligence that knows you.
The gap
Athletes who train seriously end up with a lot of data and not enough clarity. Numbers pile up. Progress is hard to read. The Wahoo App closes this gap
The read
The Wahoo App interprets your training through a sport science framework built around you. Not one score. Not a streak. Multiple metrics that work together to show you where you are and what to do next.
The connection
The Wahoo app isn’t separate from the hardware. Your KICKR, your ELEMNT, your KICKR RUN, your COROS watch, your other training apps all feed into your unique athlete profile. And it’s open by design, so the rest of your kit is welcome too. That’s the Wahoo difference.
Cyclist. Runner.
One athlete. One app.
Wahoo profiles both cycling and running with real dimensional depth. Not one sport with the other bolted on. 4DP for cycling. 3DP for running. A Fitness Score that breaks down by sport, and Training Capacity that accounts for everything.
And if you only ride, or only run, the app gives you the same depth.

Dimensional Training Load
Most apps give you a single training load number. DTL breaks it down by type of effort so you can see not just how hard you trained, but what kind of hard. It helps you balance your week, not just fill it.

“At 69, I started using Wahoo to track my exercise progress. The hardware is excellent, but the app is what truly stands out! I can see my progress at a glance and track trends from day one. It’s made my improvement clear and motivating. Thanks Wahoo!”

Training Capacity
Training Capacity reflects how much load your body can absorb and adapt to in a given week. Push past it consistently and you dig a hole. Stay too far below it and you’re leaving fitness on the table. The Wahoo app calculates it from your history and updates it as your fitness changes.
Available on CORE and PRO

“Training Capacity is far more useful to me than HRV or gut feel alone. It consistently helps me know when to push and when to recover, which is especially critical as an older athlete whose body needs more recovery than it used to.”
— Lisa, Verified
Mental Capacity
Mental Capacity Assessment tracks psychological readiness. Hard training blocks and race pressure take a mental toll that doesn’t show up in power data. The app surfaces that toll and offers targeted mental training and recovery content.
Available on CORE and PRO

“My mental state drives a big part of my performance, and until now I had no way to measure that – love seeing where I’m at, and how it relates to my Training Capacity.”

Your Athlete Profile
4DP measures four distinct power metrics to build a complete physiological profile of you as a cyclist. It goes beyond FTP. Knowing your profile tells you where your fitness actually lives and what kind of racing or training suits you best.
3DP applies the same sport science logic to running. Running and cycling profiles are distinct, not interchangeable. Both are dimensional. Neither is a single-number simplification.
Available on CORE and PRO

“After years of plateauing at the same FTP, Athlete Profile showed me that MAP was my weakness. I trained with that insight for a year, using DTL data to track each session, and my FTP increased by 33 watts and MAP by 59 watts…even while riding less. Highly recommended.”

Where the work lives.
The app reads your training and tells you what you need. SYSTM, the Wahoo App’s workout library, is where you do it: hundreds of video workouts and structured sessions across cycling, running, strength, yoga, and mental training. Each one targeted to you. One profile, one experience, all of it working together.
Full library included with Pro.
Where it all adds up.
Whether you’re new to Wahoo or a member of the Wahooligan community, the Wahoo app doesn’t care. Come as you are with what you’ve got and the Wahoo App will help you better understand who you are as an athlete.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about the app, the tiers, and how it all connects.
Getting started
The Wahoo App connects directly to your sensors and trainer, records the session, and then analyzes it using Wahoo’s sport science models. Apps like Strava receive a finished workout file and display it. The Wahoo App produces that file in the first place, then adds training intelligence: analysis of what the session demanded and how much training you can absorb in the days after. Your workouts still upload to Strava automatically.
Most athletes use one app to record workouts and another to analyze or plan them. The Wahoo App does both: it pairs your sensors, captures the session, and applies your athlete profile to the result. Wahoo SYSTM adds a structured-workout and cross-training library and training plans on top of that. Anything else you use, Strava, TrainingPeaks, or other training platforms, connects to the Wahoo App and receives your workouts automatically.
It records workouts, and it also analyzes them. The app builds a profile of your ability, measures the demand of each session by the type of physiological stress it created rather than by total volume alone, and tracks whether your fitness is improving. So alongside distance and duration, you get an assessment of what a session cost you and how much capacity you have for the next one.
Both sports are profiled in detail. Cycling uses a four-dimensional athlete profile, running uses a three-dimensional one, and both profiles inform your overall Fitness Score and Training Capacity metrics. Record rides, runs, and other types of activities directly in the app, both indoors and outdoors.
Plans & pricing
Base covers the basics: pairing your devices, recording sessions, route planning, and connecting third-party platforms, keeping your activity history all in one place. Core adds Wahoo’s training intelligence layer, giving you a deeper understanding of yourself as an athlete, advanced analysis of what each session is doing for you, and how your training contributes to your fitness over time. Pro includes everything in Core plus Wahoo SYSTM, recommended workouts, and training plans.
Choose Base if you mainly want to manage your hardware, record workouts and runs, and see basic analytics. Choose Core if you want advanced analytics about your training and a way to track your fitness and training trends. Choose Pro if you want the app to prescribe sessions and give you access to the complete SYSTM workout library. Athletes preparing for a specific event usually need Pro.
The Wahoo App is fully functional for free. You can pair sensors, record workouts, analyze your activity, complete a subset of free structured workouts, and see up to one week of our advanced fitness metrics at no cost.
No. Pairing, device setup and configuration, route planning, trainer control, and basic workout recording are all free at the Base tier. Your hardware works fully without one.
Training intelligence
4DP profiles four separate power capabilities rather than the single threshold figure FTP provides: sprint, anaerobic, sustained, and threshold power. Riders with the same FTP can have very different profiles across those four areas, so 4DP produces training targets matched to your specific strengths and limiters.
3DP is the running version of the athlete profile: a three-dimensional assessment of your running ability rather than a single pace. It establishes your runner type and identifies your strengths and limiters, and your training targets are set from it.
Dimensional Training Load, or DTL, measures the demand of a session by the type of physiological stress it created rather than reporting one combined score. A sprint session and a long endurance ride can generate similar total load while stressing different systems, and DTL reports those separately so you can see which systems your training has been working.
Fitness Score measures whether your fitness is improving. It updates as your training accumulates, which gives you a view of progress across weeks rather than an impression based on how individual sessions felt.
Training Capacity estimates how much training you can currently absorb, measured against your recent workload. Comparing the two shows whether you have room to add intensity this week or should reduce it.
At the Pro tier the app recommends sessions based on your athlete profile, recent training load, and current capacity, and adjusts your recommendation as those change.
The Mental Capacity Assessment evaluates mental readiness and treats it as a trainable area alongside physical fitness. The app includes recovery and training content aimed at it, on the basis that endurance performance depends on more than physical conditioning.
No. You can establish your athlete profile through a questionnaire and refine it later with a fitness test.
Ecosystem & compatibility
Wahoo hardware including KICKR trainers, KICKR RUN, and ELEMNT computers, plus heart rate monitors and standard Bluetooth sensors. Activities recorded on third-party watches, including COROS and Apple Watch, can be synced into your activity history. You don’t need an all-Wahoo setup for the app to be useful.
Yes. It pairs with many standard Bluetooth sensors, so most third-party straps, power meters, and trainers work. You’ll get more out of it with Wahoo devices, but it isn’t locked to them.
Yes. Authorize a platform once and every completed workout uploads on its own. The app connects to Strava, TrainingPeaks, Zwift, komoot, Ride with GPS, Apple Health, and others.
Yes. You can plan a route in a third-party app and then sync or import it into your Wahoo App and ELEMNT computer.
You need an app to set it up and control it, and the Wahoo App is the one built for it. It offers Target Power (ERG), Simulation, and Passive recording modes, firmware updates, and settings controls. Third-party apps can control a KICKR, but initial setup and firmware updates still run through the Wahoo App.
